These minutes shall serve to memorialize the meeting of the Board of Directors of Beauregard Town Civic Association’s Board of Directors.

Pursuant to the power vested in me, as recorder of the meeting, I, Melissa Parmelee, do memorialize the minutes of the meeting of the Corporate Body of this Corporation held on: January 23, 2012.

Joy Perilloux chairman of the garden committee

Darryl Gissel-co heading the special events committee

Meeting was called to order at 6 p.m. at the home of Chris Nichols.

First on the agenda, led by Mr. Schulze was to elect officers for the upcoming year. Officers were elected in no specific order and everyone present was in agreement of the slate.

Mr. Buxton was assigned Special Events Chairman and will be assisted by Darryl Gissel and Sarah Courtney. Many ideas were discussed. With the timeline so close to Mardi Gras, the idea of a ball was postponed until Halloween or next Mardi Gras. There will be a parade on Mardi Gras day. Mr. Buxton will work with his team to solicit sponsors and media coverage.

The entire board agreed that BT should have the green frog as the symbol. More discussion will occur on who the frog will be displayed.

Vice Presidents, Mr. Buxton and Tiffany Reine, will focus on membership as part of their duties.

Mr. Buxton has agreed to chair the Beautification committee and will solicit help from a few non-board members.

The google groups was discussed and Ben who has all passwords will attend the next meeting to show the board the workings and how to post on the web site.

A process was discussed to ensure that Police are signing the book with the approval of Mr. Shultz. Mr. Shultz will sign after the shift to verify the invoice the Treasure receives from the Police.

Joy will help oversee the Beauregarden.

>Action: Tiffany will call Davis to see where the benches are for the garden. The association paid for the arms to be put on the benches.

>Action: Newsletter/one Sheet to be created announcing new board & upcoming events as well as solicit membership. This is to go to all resident/property owners in BT.

Dues are not due at the following costs:  $20 for residents and $50 for businesses.

>Action: Create press release surrounding the award and what Gardner Thomas will do. Chris Nichols and Awards committee are working on this information.

New Business:

· Minutes should be placed on Website.

· Google groups should be evaluated for function

· Thomas will get admin password from Ben

· BT needs to solicit Patrol Fund from the DDD- $5000.

· Send all BT updates to Mary Olinde.

· Press Release- Thomas submits email approval.

Meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.

The DDD has put together a list of Downtown area schools and a map that shows each school color coded by type and the approximate driving distance from Downtown. If you live or work in the downtown area, consider these educational choices for your children - ranging from language immersion to educational magnet and a host of other opportunities.

For those who could not make the BT annual meeting last Thursday, it was announced that we will have our first neighborhood lawn and garden contest. There will be four winners who will each be presented with $100 gift certificate to a local lawn and garden center. The categories to enter are:

* Best Flower Garden
* Best Vegetable Garden
* Best Overall Yard
* Most Improved Yard

A 20% off coupon to Nature’s Treasures will be presented to everyone who enters the contest. The contest will be judged by the beautification committee members on or around April 26th. In addition to $100 gift certificates, winners will also be featured on the Beauregard Town website and mentioned at next year’s annual meeting.

Please join the contest by sending name, address, and entry category(s) to direction09@gmail.com or fill out the attached flier and deliver to 757 Maximillian Street. Entries should be submitted by Sat Feb 28th.
