Beauregard Town Recognition

I am happy to announce that Beauregard Town won the Great Places in Louisiana Award! Our neighborhood received a $1,500 grant at the awards reception Thursday during last week’s Smart Growth Summit held at the Shaw Center. Thank you to all who make Beauregard Town such a great place!

Beauregard Town was also featured Sunday in the Advocate’s series highlighting neighborhoods. Read the article here: http://theadvocate.com/utility/homepagestories/625566-102/beauregard-town-thrives-downtown.html

Have a great week,
Brian Goad, BTCA Pres.

Community Garden

There is lots of enthusiasm about the new community garden project in the neighborhood. We’ll post information (and photos) about how it came to be and how to get involved very soon.

But meanwhile, some would like a quick and easy way to pay their fee for participation. Others don’t want to participate, but would like to make a donation to help contribute to the garden. Here are links for those people.

If you have a plot and would like to pay online, use this link. If you do not have a square of land to call your own, but would like to make a contribution, you can use this link.

If you would like to get involved, you may email us at “admin at beaurgardtownbr.org”.

Downtown Schools

The Downtown Development District recently sent an email trumpeting the large selection of schools that are in or near downtown.  It should be of some interest to our resident families, or to visitors trying to decide whether Beauregard town is the right area for them. The text of the message is below…

Did you know that there are 38 educational institutions within a 10 minute drive from Downtown? Downtown itself has 6 schools that offer care from infancy to the 5th grade! The DDD has put together a list of Downtown area schools and a map that shows each school color coded by type and the approximate driving distance from Downtown. If you live or work in the downtown area, consider these educational choices for your children - ranging from language immersion to educational magnet and a host of other opportunities.

Click here for a complete list and map of educational facilities in or near Downtown.

Beauregard Town Website Officially Launched

On February 12, 2009, the Beauregard Town Neighborhood Association officially launched the Beauregard Town website at the annual association meeting.  The vision is for a fluid site, with regularly updated news, photos, and other content.  This will allow us to showcase the many events, functions, gatherings, etc. that take place in our neighborhood.

We would like to invite everyone who shares our affection for the neighborhood to participate.  We’re interested in sharing pictures, historical information, announcements, and stories with our neighbors and with the rest of the world through this portal.

If you are interested in contributing — either one time or on an ongoing basis — please email us at contribute@beauregardtownbr.com.
